Saints 2012 Season Approaching Fast And Is Full Of Change

January 18th, 2012

SAINTS 2012 LACROSSE SEASON NOT FAR AWAY AND FULL OF CHANGE

The Newmarket Saints will unofficially hit the floor in less than a month for winter workouts. Entering their 5th year in the OLA Junior lacrosse league the Saints look to continue the winning tradition they have set in the past. The Saints have had four previous successful winning regular seasons and have qualified for the playoffs every year including three consecutive trips to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Things may look a little different this season. It's the end of an era for 11 graduating players that are lost to over age. Two year captain Declan Gunovksi is lost along with three 20 goal scorers in Tyler Laplante, Chris Clifford and Jeff Sehl. Also finishing their junior careers as 4 year Saints are starting goaltender Adam Miles and defenders Nick Trach, Tyler Flanagan and Jake Lambert. "We have lots of spots to fill" commented Head Coach Luke Ringler. "There will be lots of opportunities for players to fill roster spots this season."

The lacrosse club venue will also be relocating. Ray Twinney arena will be under renovation this summer and will not be available to play out of. The Saints new home arena will be the Magna Center. All homes games and practices will be played out of that facility. Complete team schedule should be released later this month as the league regular season kicks off on April 13th. The Saints look to open their regular season towards the end of April.
